'Grab me! Grab me!! GRAB ME!!'

Yes, I know this kind of Portal 2 ending fanart has been done hundreds of times, but I just wanted to try my hand in recreating the Portal 2 end......

.......so, to all who haven't played the game or know the storyline of the game yet, this is a MAJOR SPOILER.

I wanted to imagine what the ending would look like if Wheatley was humanized. As we can't see what Chells' expression was as Wheatley was knocked out of her hands, I wanted to picture what her reaction was too.

Anyway, just a few seconds before this scene, when Chell shot the portal onto the moon and Wheatley was dragged into the portal, I noticed by her hand movements that she sort of pushed herself forward towards Wheatley and grabbed hold of him. I'm not quite sure about this though. People say that she was sucked into the portal and just grabbed hold of Wheatley to save herself.

At any rate, after that when GLaDOS knocked Wheatley out of her hands, Chell actually reached out towards him. So that's pretty much what inspired me to draw Chell's reaction in this fanart. I think Chell knew that Wheatley was just corrupted by the facility system, and probably knew that he didn't mean to force her to test and try to kill her. That's why she was reaching out towards him as he was knocked away.

Although I think I went a bit too far in this fanart. For one thing, I doubt Chell would actually cry at all, she's too string-willed for that. But I confess I almost did when I watched Wheatley being knocked away (and I actually shed tears during his apology after the credits). My reaction to him flying off into space, screaming "GRAB ME GRAB ME GRAB ME!!!!", was almost similiar to the reaction in this Let's Play: [link] "NO!!! NO!! WHEATLEY!! WHEATLEYYYYY!!!!"

Anyway, I'm still in the process of designing my human Wheatley and my human GLaDOS, so their looks may change in future fanarts of them. I actually wanted to go with 's version of human Wheatley, which is my favourite version, but then I decided to be more original.

Also, I wanted to try something different in this fanart. So I did a colored background with monocrome (I think this is considered monocrome, right?) characters instead.
